Garbine Muguruza of Spain flew past Slovakia’s Magdalena Rybarikova to reach her second Wimbledon final in three years, with a very comprehensive 6-1 6-1 victory at Wimbledon earlier today.
The 14th seed and 2015 finalist, has looked in sublime form the whole tournament, having only dropped one set, against Angelique Kerber of Germany in the fourth round.
Muguruza is hoping to become the second Spanish woman to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish on Saturday. Her countrywoman, Conchita Martinez won the title in 1994, when she defeated Martina Navratilova in three sets.
Rybarikova, who in her own right, played some fantastic tennis during this fortnight, including defeating the now new No. 1 player, Karolina Pliskova and Coco Vandeweghe on her way to the semi-finals, said in her post match interview that she could have been a little less nervous today. She also went on to praise her opponent saying that Muguruza’s display was the best that she had experienced from an opponent yet.
