Djokovic gets a breather as Klizan retires injured

The second seed, Novak Djokovic got a breather, when his opponent, Martin Klizan of Slovakia was forced to retire during the second set of their first round match on Centre Court today.

It was clear in the first set already that Klizan, who has been struggling with a left calf injury, was in no shape to be on court.

Djokovic took the first set 6-3 and was up 2-0 in the second set, when Klizan threw in the towel.

Djokovic will face the unseeded Adam Pavlásek of the Czech Republic in the second round. Pavlásek defeated Ernesto Escobedo of the USA 6-7(7) 6-1 6-3 6-1 today.
