Pliskova too strong for Garcia in Paris

Karolina Pliskova, the second seed from the Czech Republic, certainly upped her game when she defeated Caroline Garcia of France in the second quarter-final match played at the French Open today.

Pliskova broke Garcia’s serve early in the first set, maintaining the lead until Garcia broke back and the ladies headed for a tie-breaker, which Pliskova won.

The second set went according to serve. The home crowd tried desperately to lift Garcia’s game, but unlike her countrywoman, Kiki Mladenovic, it was not effective, as Pliskova broke her serve to take the match, 7-6(3) 6-4.
