Halep looking dangerous as she sweeps Suarez Navarro aside

Simona Halep, the No. 3 seed from Romania, managed to break Carla Suarez Navarro’s clay court hold on her, when she blasted past the Spanish player, 6-1 6-1 at the French Open today.

Suarez Navarro had defeated Halep five times on clay leading up to this match, but Halep turned the tables today as she controlled the match from the start, and despite Suarez Navarro missing opportunities, it was the dominant baseline play and the 19 winners off the Romanian’s racquet that did the damage.

Halep, who was a hot favourite going into the French Open has sent out a strong warning to the remainder of the players in this year’s Ladies draw, as she looks to compete in her third straight final in a month.
