Mixed results in the Men’s draw on Day 8 in Madrid

Day 8 of the Mutua Madrid Open in Spain produced a mixed bag of results in the Men’s draw.

The Spanish supporters hopes were dashed when the 2nd seed, Novak Djokovic, defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-4 7-5 and the 6th seed, Kei Nishikori defeated David Ferrer, 6-4 6-3.

Rafael Nadal, the firm favourite, is currently on court against Nick Kyrgios and will hopefully restore some pride in Madrid.

The 9th seed, David Goffin defeated the 5th seed, Milos Raonic, 6-4 6-2, whilst Alexander Zverev ended the 2012 finalist, Tomas Berdych’s title hopes with a 6-4 6-4 win.

Pablo Cuevas also advanced after defeating Benoit Paire 7-5 0-6 6-1. Paire took out Stanislas Wawrinka in three sets yesterday.
